Madear's Cucina, New food truck coming to Boston.

Madear's Cucina, the newest food truck to hit the streets of greater Boston will roll out in early August.

The food truck itself is named after owner Robb Curry's paternal grandmother Martha Sullivan, known to family and friends as Madear, and she can be seen in the food truck’s logo.Madear's Cucina will have staple items such as Po-Boys (oysters, catfish, shrimp and crawfish), fried chicken, pasta, cornbread, salad and arancini.

In addition to the staple items, we will boast our rotating menu that includes favorites such as:  crawfish étouffée , jambalaya , chicken cutlets and baked mac & cheese, to name a few.  We will create another first for Boston being the first openly gay owned food truck operated by my fiancé Caleb Garner and me.

We will be cooking foods from both of our backgrounds.  I am a native of Baton Rouge, LA and he's Sicilian American born in VT.  He's lived in the North End since the age of 17 and I've been in Jamaica Plain for the last 5 years of my 12 years in New England.Madear's Cucina has launched a Kickstarter project to help raise start -up funds.  As of now we are still looking for backers.  The Kickstarter campaign goes until July 13th.

We are trying to reach a minimum of $40,000. through the Kickstarter project which allows backers to help by making donations and receiving rewards through the food truck. It will service the Greater Boston area in public spaces such as Dudley Sq,, Ashmont, and Washington St in the South End.  We are also working with the Main St groups of Jamaica Plain to set up a spot in the Egelston Sq area. One of our service goals is to provide great food and southern comfort.

Follow our progress on Facebook and Twitter.  I am currently the Beverage Manager at Waban Kitchen.  In my past I've worked in the Newton area in great restaurants such as: 51 Lincoln of Newton Highlands and B Street of Newton Center.

Throughout my career I've worked in chain style restaurants such as P.F. Changs and California Pizza Kitchen to small private owned restaurants: Marliave of Boston and La Casa De Pedro of Watertown. I’ve also worked with entertainment and catering groups throughout the state. Caleb began working at his grandparent’s diner in Vermont and after completing his degree in cosmetology, he went on to open his own salon, which he sold to move to New York City.

After missing his family he relocated back to Boston's North End where he waited tables at night at Panza in the North End and Anchovies in the South End and he styled hair during the day.  He's currently a hairstylist at Salon D'Emilo in the North End.
