James Michael Curley

James Michael Curley's housemaid, Helen Morley McDopnough passes on at 94 yrs of age.  She died Monday, July 22, 2013.  I became James Michael Curley's (JMC) stepson when he married my mother, Gertrude M. Casey Dennis, in January of 1937.  I moved into the house on the Jamaicaway that year aboiut the same time as Helen became a housemaid for the family.  In a way we were kids there together; me at 12 and she at 18.  She was a dear, dear Irish girl, just over, who became almost a member of the family because she was so attendant to JMC and my mother.  They loved her and she loved them. When she married Joe McDonough, JMC gave her away in the church marriage ceremony.  Even after she married and raised her own wonderful family, she was soliocitous of and always available and extremly helpful to them continuing to be so after they moved out of the big house to a wonderful smaller place on Pond Circle at the other end of Jamaica Pond.  Time marches on.  She was,  and her fellow housemaid, Bridget McDonough Lydon and I are, the last of the line of people who lived at 350 Jamaicaway, the mansion with the shamrock hutters.
God bless her.  She will be missed.
Richard (Dick)  Dennis.  Now of Scituate.
