ELIZABETH STONE HOUSE APPOINTS TWO TO BOARD OF DIRECTORS

The Elizabeth Stone House in Roxbury has appointed Eric Peterson and Joan Tomaceski, both of Boston, to its board of directors.  The Elizabeth Stone House provides residential and community-based services to families affected by domestic violence, substance abuse, mental health issues and homelessness.

Peterson is a senior project architect with over 30 years of experience in the profession and over 25 years with Massachusetts architectural registration.  He specializes in office, high-technology, institutional and multi-family residential facilities.

“My wife Laura and I first donated to the Elizabeth Stone House over twenty years ago at the suggestion of a close friend who worked on a crisis hotline,” said Eric Peterson.  “One thing that caught our attention at the time was the importance the organization placed on serving not only women but their children.   Over the years, as we learned more about the important work performed by the staff and volunteers, we have tried to help as much as we can.  I hope that as an architect I can bring a valuable perspective to the board as it confronts the exciting but serious challenge of designing, funding and constructing a new building for the Elizabeth Stone House.”

Tomaceski has more than twenty years of experience as both a strategic and operational manager in the fields of Insurance, Software Technology, and Consumer Services.  She has served as a Senior Consultant and Project manager with Fortune 500 Companies, both domestically and overseas, in all areas of enterprise-wide business transformation.

“After years of serving in other Board capacities, I was seeking an opportunity to become more actively involved in a non-profit organization in Boston,” said Joan Tomaceski.  “I was introduced to the Elizabeth Stone House through a fellow Board member.  As I learned more about the organization and the residential and community based programs that have helped women reclaim control over their lives, I was inspired to do more.  When the opportunity arose to serve on the Elizabeth Stone House Board of Directors, it matched perfectly with one of my core values of helping women change the trajectory of their lives.  I am delighted to serve as a Director and contribute my time and energy to this great cause.”

“We are very happy that Joan and Eric have accepted our invitation to join our board of directors,” said Nancy Owens Hess, Executive Director, The Elizabeth Stone House.  “We look forward to their different experiences and insight as we start the process of building a new Elizabeth Stone House to better serve the community.”
