Neighborhood Council Says No to Casey Upper Busway Proposal

Five items you need to know today in JP.

1. JPNC/Casey: The Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council passed a motion at a Tuesday night meeting against the proposed changes to the Forest Hills upper busway in terms of the Casey Arborway project. Bernard Doherty, chair of the Asticou-Martinwood Neighborhood Association, urged the board to take a stand on the proposal, which he said would pour light onto Asticou Road when the Route 39 buses would exit. The board agreed the proposal should change so they moved against it.

2. Hubway: The city is in the process of planning Hubway bike share station locations for Jamaica Plain. Details on this to follow.

3. New Liquor License: Bukhara restaurant is in the process of adding a full alcohol license to the beer/wine license they now hold. Representatives of the restaurant are scheduled to appear before a city board Wednesday.

4. Investigation: Police are looking for information in the Monday Bromley-Heath shooting.

5. New Taxes: Some new taxes kick in Wednesday in Massachusetts, all toward funding transportation and infrastructure needs in the state. One component of the law is a little unclear.
