  goes back 130 years. His great-grandparents were among the first settle
 rs in Petah Tikva\, his grandparents were among the founding families of
  Tel Aviv\, and his father was an activist and leader in the Irgun\, wor
 king for Israel&rsquo\;s independence and on the rescue of European Jews
  before and during World War II. Ben-Ami is the author of A New Voice fo
 r Israel\, published in 2011.\nJ Street is the political home for pro-Is
