Pediatric Safety: Infant, Child, & Adult First Aid & CPR/Choking Relief
Parenting trends and strategies may change as your children grow, but safety is important to every parent and childcare provider. This comprehensive class gives you the skills and information you need to help you keep your children and loved ones safe.
You may be interested in this class if:
- You are a parent or expectant parent interested in learning infant/child CPR, first aid, and safety skills
- You are a babysitter, nanny, or childcare provider
- You are a grandparent or close relative of a child
- You want a class that covers infant, child, and adult CPR and first aid
- You want to be certified in CPR and first aid (for an additional $15)*
This class follows the guide of the American Heart Association’s curriculum and covers a range of topics, including injury prevention, injury assessment, and first aid. Included are best practices from the American Academy of Pediatrics, Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), Centers for Disease Control, Safe Kids Coalition, and the American Heart Association.
In addition, this class includes a detailed and thorough demonstration of infant, child, and adult CPR and choking relief techniques. After this interactive presentation, participants will have ample time to practice their skills on mannequins and receive feedback from the instructor.
Registration Details:
This is a non-certifying course geared towards expectant parents, parents of young children, and childcare providers. Participants who wish to become certified in AED,CPR, and First Aid can test their skills after the class and have the instructor evaluate them. An additional $15 is required for certification and is payable prior to or immediately following the class.

Located on the first floor of the Jamaica Plain Brewey Complex, Mama and Me is a playspace and child care facility for children from infancy through five years old. Mama and Me offers free play, painting, yoga, private parties, prenatal education, drop-off classes and parent support group programs, encouraging parents to stay with their children, play and learn in a welcoming, enriching and environmentally friendly space.
