 onAbout Mark:Mark Richardson is a 25-year resident of Jamaica Plain. A n
 ative of western NY and western PA\, he was raised in a family of musici
 ans.&nbsp\; All 6 children played instruments which culminated one Chris
 mtas morning with a&nbsp\; performance of Bach&rsquo\;s Brandenburg Conc
 erto #5.&nbsp\;\nMark holds a bachelor&rsquo\;s of Fine Arts in Violin P
 erformance from Indiana University of Pennsylvania (1984)\, where he stu
 died with Delight Malitsky and a Master&rsquo\;s of Education from UMass
  Boston (1997).&nbsp\; While at IUP\, he performed 3 solo recitals with 
 his stepfather\, James G. Staples\, as well as numerous concerts with th
 e IUP Symphony Orchestra and the Johnstown Symphony.&nbsp\; Since last C
 hristmas\, he has been studying violin again with Sue Rabut of West Roxb
 ury\, who has been of immeasurable help. In addition to music\, Mark enj
 oys reading\, movies\, scuba diving and cycling.\nFor the past 17 years\
 , Mark has been a Middle School history teacher in the Brockton Public S
 chools.&nbsp\; He is a 5 time recipient of the Inspirational Teacher Awa
 rd\, given to teachers by students who have been accepted in the Nationa
 l Honor Society at Brockton High School.\n&nbsp\;\nAbout James:James Sta
 ples is a native of Florida who has resided in Indiana\, Pennsylvania th
 e past 45 years.&nbsp\; Dr. Staples recently retired from a 50-year care
 er that included six years at SUNY Fredonia\, and 44 years at IUP teachi
 ng piano and music theory.&nbsp\; Dr. Staples holds degrees from Florida
  State and a doctorate of musical performance from the Eastman School of
  Music.&nbsp\; His teachers included Carlisle Floyd\, Irwin Freundlich a
 nd Liusa Faini.&nbsp\; He has been a recitalist in every state in the No
 rtheast\, and has appeared as soloist in Florida and Pennsylvania.&nbsp\
 ;&nbsp\;The past twenty years have seen Dr. Staples engage his lifelong 
 passion for music composition\, creating works for solo piano and large 
 and small chamber ensembles.&nbsp\; He composed his own piano concerto a
 nd has performed it twice with the IUP Symphony Orchestra.&nbsp\; In his
  spare time\, Dr. Staples is an avid concert and theatre-goer: He compet
 es with his stepson Mark to see who can attend the most performances at 
 the Stratford Festival in Ontario.&nbsp\; In his retirement\, that is a 
 competition he is certain to win.
