The English High School, founded in 1821, is the oldest public high school in the country. This is its sixth location, settling here in 1989 after moving several times in Boston.
In September 2010 the school implemented a radical restructuring program after failing to meet yearly progress benchmarks laid out in No Child Left Behind.
