Thanks to folks for bringing this pedestrian street crossing skill to our attention. If we start practicing now, we might be ready for the new seven-lane highway.

Yes, because the complete and total lack of signals there has nothing to do with it.

Actually, if our roads were clogged with motorcycles and bicyclists instead of cars, that kind of mixing might work better than what we have now. Those slow-speed motorbikes are certainly less dangerous than high speed cars.

If you want to see a real example of what the Forest Hills intersections might be like, go to Roxbury Crossing at Columbus and Tremont, and add in a wider median in the center of Columbus for a better pedestrian refuge.

We should certainly stay on MDOT's case to make this intersection as welcoming and safe as humanly possible for foot and bicycle traffic, but by not building a bridge, we're already way ahead of the game on that.

Looks like a lot of drivers breaking the law to me... By the way, if you look at the entire length of Route 203 there are plenty of other congested spots where businesses do fine....Adams Village in Dorchester is a thriving business district. There's a lot of stores between Fuller and Norfolks Street and how about Blue Hill Avenue? I'd say the exception on the road WAS the overpass. Given it's a badly built crumbling structure that would be facing it's third reconstruction in 30 years, the long term practical solution is to get rid of it.
