The Jamaica Plain Neighborhood Council - which advocates for the neighborhood on issues as diverse as zoning changes, granting restaurant and liquor licenses, maintenance and improvement of open spaces, traffic safety, and affordable housing - currently has five vacant seats and will be appointing interested applicants at its December and January meetings. Anyone interested is welcome to attend the upcoming meeting of the JPNC on Tuesday, November 27 at 7PM, at the Julia Martin House, 90 Bickford St. in Jackson Square, to introduce themselves. Due to the timing of the holidays this year the JPNC's December meeting is likely to be rescheduled from its usual meeting time of the last Tuesday of the month - watch the calendar on jpnc.org for an updated meeting time.
There is an at-large vacancy, and open seats in all three of the Council's districts, so individuals from any part of JP are welcome to apply. Serving on the council is a great way to get involved in your community, and all eligible residents are encouraged to attend the Nov. 27 meeting if they are interested!
If you have any questions at all about the Council, don't hesitate to email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
All JP residents ages 16 and older are eligible to serve on the neighborhood council (you do not need to be registered to vote here), as are owners of businesses and directors of non-profits located in JP.
Look forward to seeing you at the upcoming Neighborhood Council meeting!
