Drivers definitely have their opinions when it comes to road conditions. Most seasoned Bostonians know which roads have rim-bending potholes, teeth-rattling cobblestones and other petty nuisances.
But what may bug a driver could injure a cyclist, and bike riders have different sets of issues, like loose sand and debris, poorly marked lanes, dooring danger and more.
Which Boston streets are the worst for bike riders? Is it the road's condition that makes it so bad, or are you more concerned about the speed, the drivers, or the unpredictable pedestrians? Share your opinion and your bike-riding tales in the comments section below.
Happy riding!

Cambridge St in Allston between Harvard Ave and the River St Bridge. It feels like a highway and people drive on it like one. Then there's the intersection(s) from hell near the Doubletree Hotel where the drivers are going every which way because they have no clue which lane to be in.
Cambridge St downtown isn't much fun either. Going outbound in the afternoon it's usually backed, with very little space for cyclists to squeeze by. You have drivers pulling in and out of the Whole Foods parking lot as well as the MGH parking garages to deal with. Finally, you get to Charles Circle drivers love to turn right onto Storrow Drive westbound without signaling from any of the 3 lanes, when as a bicyclist you're trying to go straight onto the Longfellow Bridge. Fun stuff!

I second Cambridge St in Allston.
I don't know what the street is called but the bridge over the Mass Pike from Mountfort Street to Commonwealth Avenue near the BU Bridge is quite terrifying on two wheels.
Washington Street under the Casey Overpass in Forest Hills is also frightening, but that should be improved once the highway comes down.

South Street, between Forest Hills Station and Bussey. It's a dire hazard for cyclists in an already too-narrow lane, who have to move 4 feet out from the edge of the road to avoid pits, potholes and lumps of broken pavement. There is also a large pothole about 3 feet wide and 5 feet long near the far entrance to the State Lab, it's been there since 2 winters ago. They patched it early in 2011 but the snow, ice and rain eroded it by May 2011.The sidewalks are also broken and in disrepair. I lived over there for 2-1/2 years and had to walk in the street with speeding cars brushing by, due to impassible sidewalks between Ascitou Road and the Bussey Hill footgate entrance to the Arboretum.
