Parents, it's time to tell your fellow parents which JP restaurant is best for kids. Votes are great, but we also want to know why your pick is the best.
UPDATE, Friday, March 23: And the winner is...
~~~~~
JP Patch is doing a series of week-long "Best Of Patch Readers' Choice" contests. This week's category is: Best Restaurant for Kids.
Here's how it works. Vote in the poll below. Add comments supporting your decision and influencing other JP residents to see that you're right, after all.
The poll closes at 9 a.m. Friday. Because this poll isn't scientific, it isn't the sole consideration in choosing a winner. The winner will be determined by the Patch editor (that's me, Chris Helms), based on poll results, comments on this story and reviews on Patch Places. Please vote only once per survey. The official rules are attached to this post as a PDF.
And now, the nominees, along with links to their Patch Places pages:
The winner gets bragging rights and a framed certificate from Patch. Let the voting begin!
[Editor's note: James's Gate was added after the initial post was published.]
Missing James's Gate! Been taking our son there since he was a wee one. Nicest, most tolerant place for families. Several of your listed we won't go to because of bad service and/or a wait staff that rolls their eyes when you ask for something kid friendly or nickel and dime you on kids' meals.
Thanks, Mayre. I'd polled parents on Facebook to get nominations. Now you mention it, though, it certainly belongs. I'll add them! (Note -- that doesn't mean I'll add others willy-nilly. But the restaurant side of James's Gate has certainly earned a reputation for being kid-friendly.)
I love Bella Luna because it is a kid-friendly place with atmosphere! There is an adult vibe, cool lighting and music but kids are still not at all out of place. My kids (12, 6 and 1) love the fun plates along with the tasty food. A meal at Bella Luna (we usually go for birthdays) can feel celebratory but not extravagant, fun but not dressy, which with kids can just be a hassle.
I like almost all the places listed but would not nominate them as Best RFK because it is not too surprising to find a take-out, ice cream, or pizza place that is kid-friendly. It is harder to find a sit down restaurant that provides adults with a great dining experience and also keeps the kids happy. My kids love the Curry Fries and also that the kid's pasta comes with A LOT of Parmesan cheese. I feel like a bit of a fan-boy because I also voted for James's Gate for St. Pat's day but I have no connection with them (well, maybe my ethnicity). I just have always had great meals there.
While we don't have any kids, we tend to go to lunch very late, usually around 6pm. At Bella Luna we've noticed that tends to the time lots of parents bring their kids there and they all seem to be having a great time!
