What Businesses Do You Want to See at this South Street Block?

Three addresses are vacant at this section of South Street.

Next to J.P. Variety Store there are three vacant spaces which used to be local businesses.

The vacancies are at 166, 168 and 170 South St. At least one of the businesses used to be a hair salon – with a sign depicting the face of Scarlett Johansson – another was once a cleaners.

Based on previous articles which posed the same question, many wanted a new Italian restaurant, a butchery or a new clothing store

But what businesses would be perfect to round out this particular commercial block on South Street near Forest Hills? Leave your opinion in the comments.

Anything but a hair salon, real estate office, nail salon, or check cashing.

It would be nice to have a gluten free bakery or a non-vintage consignment store. I agree with the previous poster, too.

I would love to see a taco place (we need one of those), coffee shop or a even a wine and cheese shop. But please just like the above JP residents and posters stated, NO MORE SALONS!

Second William B. sadly, it looks like there might be a hair salon unless the old one is just moving out. There's already a pizza place.

A coffee house with good coffee AND lots of room for live music at night. Oh, and I guess they'd need a liquor license. Someone said a few days ago "Something like Club Passim" and I wholeheartedly agree. And if you need dto get rid of JP Variety and the pizza place, I'm sure they won't mind.

NO MORE RESTAURANTS, convenience stores, salons, barber shops, cute little eateries with 4-1/2 tables. Hmm, Hells Angels storefront? Paraphernalia and nasty tee shirt store? Black Panthers HQ with the ACLU two doors down? In fact, have half the people posting here ever actually WALKED down there at all? =)
