Visions for Vacancies: 617 Centre St.

What business would you like to see in the former Got Sole 1981 space?

The sneaker shop Got Sole 1981 has shut down its retail operation at 617 Centre St. What business would you like to see in the space?

It's a storefront in a recently rebuilt block that had been severely damaged by arson. Here's a link to the city information on the property, but note that this data includes not just the storefront under discussion here, but also the adjoining properties owned by the Stamatos family.

As you can see from the attached photos, the space inside is not large, though I don't have an exact figure.

If you'd like to rent the space, Pondside Realty says they are accepting applications.

One resident chimed in via Twitter that he'd love to see a locally-owned tech store (with cables and routers and the like).

There is or used to be a computer repair store on South Street. I don't know if they're still in business, though. http://jamaicaplain.patch.com/listings/fixatronix-computer-repair

I'm not sure about this space, but if a bigger space opens up again, I think a nice sit-down Chinese restaurant would be very successful on Centre St. Something like Mandaran Gourmet in W. Rox. I've been harping about about this for years and if and when it finally happens my partner will be thrilled to hear me silenced :)

Hi Chris, Fixatronix, the computer repair shop on South is long gone...

Thanks, Cheryl. I called their numbers before posting that comment and got no answer, so that's what I figured.

The rent for that space is mighty high.
