The police report from last Wednesday, Feb. 1, included a robbery of a laptop from a man on St. John St. The man had the electronics recovery software "Prey" installed on the MacBook. The program, once turned on, broadcasts the location of the laptop and periodically take a photo of the machine's new surroundings. Using that information, the victim was able to lead police to recover the stolen laptop, according to the Boston Herald.

The Wednesday, Feb. 1 reports include:

• Supplemental reports were filed in two incidents of sexual assault. One was from Dec. 27, 2011 at 6:02 pm and the other was from Sept. 2, 2011 at 12:01 am. By police policy, no location information is included in the blotter.
