2. The Red Sox season opens in Detroit today at 1:05 p.m. Here's hoping for a season that can wipe out some of the sting of last season's epic collapse.

3. You've probably heard about the huge development planned for what is now the Home for Little Wanderers campus on South Huntington. Preservation groups are trying to prevent historic parts of the campus from being razed for the project. There's a "demolition delay" hearing on the subject Wednesday, April 11 at 6:30 p.m. at nearby MSPCA-Angell.

4. Tonight is First Thursday all along Centre/South, with lots of art and music and good vibes. 6-8 p.m. The "after-party" this month is an art show at the Centre/South Main Streets offices, 670 Centre., Third Floor, from 8-9:30 p.m.

5. Interested in learning about crime trends in JP? Tonight is the monthly community-police meeting at the District E-13 Police Station. 7 p.m.
