Summer Weekend Getaway: Trains, Yachts, Fireworks and Muddy Women

Looking for a fast and fun getaway from JP this weekend? Summer in New England is filled with options. Check out what's happening this weekend in a few favorite summer spots:
Cape Cod and the Islands
Weather: There's a slight chance of thunderstorms on Saturday, with highs around 83. On Sunday, temperatures will be in the mid 70s, and there's a slight chance of showers.
Historical Train Station Museum and Scenic Train Rides
Take a train ride through the cranberry bogs and marshlands of Cape Cod, including trips across the Cape Cod Canal, and visit an historical train station and museum. The Cape Cod Chapter of the National Railway Historical Society, in West Barnstable, is open from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturdays, and trains depart at 9:25 a.m. and 12:25 p.m. for the scenic tour. The museum includes activities for children.

Rhode Island
Weather: A slight chance of thunderstorms, and maybe some showers on Sunday. Highs will be in the mid 80s.
Fireworks on an America's Cup Contender
Jamestown, an island off Newport, holds its Fourth of July Fireworks on July 7. If you want to watch them in style, sign up for the fireworks cruise in Newport Harbor on board Heritage, a 63-foot America's Cup contender.

Seacoast New Hampshire
Weather: Saturday will be partly sunny with a chance of thunderstorms and temperatures in the upper 80s. Sunday will be mostly sunny, which highs in the mid 80s.
LoziLu Women's Mud Run
According to Portsmouth Patch, "Hundreds of women will jog, run and crawl through the mud Saturday as a part of the LoziLu Women's Mud Run, a celebratory Seacoast 5K and obstacle course designed to raise money and awareness for leukemia and lymphoma research and patients." It starts at 133 Exeter Road in Hampton Falls at 9 a.m. Saturday.
