String of Gunpoint Robberies Hits Eliot St.

A suspect who threatened an Eliot School teacher with a handgun is still at-large.

Two gunpoint robberies Wednesday and Thursday have Eliot Street neighbors on alert.

A teacher at the Eliot School was robbed at gunpoint Wednesday night, and a similar robbery in the vicinity took place on Holbrook Street near the entrance to the Eliot School yard Thursday night, according to a police report and an email obtained by Jamaica Plain Patch.

A suspect, a 6-foot-1-inch black male with a black knit cap, grey hooded sweatshirt, slight beard and blue jeans, used a handgun with a glock-type square barrel in the Wednesday incident, according to police. There is speculation among neighbors that the incidents involved the same suspects, but police have not confirmed this.

Police canvassed the area following both incidents, but were not able to locate suspects.

Neighbors are in the process of organizing a community meeting regarding the two incidents. Police will be blanketing the area overnight, according to the email.

Jamaica Plain Patch will provide updates as they become available.

Is there anything missing from this description...? I'm sure that the police were given a complete description of the suspect, but the citizens cannot be trusted with this information.

You can change your clothes...
You can shave...
The gun will be hidden until just before it is used...

So here is the description - be on the lookout for a 6 foot 1 inch male.

More lights and more surveillence cameras would help. JP has always enjoyed a low crime rate. Not any more.

More cameras are needed, yes. Not just around businesses but on residential streets as well. There is way too much of this happening, and it's time it stopped.
