Samuel Adams to Donate Profits to Charity

A Jamaica Plain institution will help in the aftermath of the Boston Marathon Bombings.

Profits from the specially crafted Samuel Adams “marathon” beer will be donated to tragedy, the JP brewery announced Thursday.

“In the wake of the Boston Marathon tragedy Monday, [Founder] Jim [Koch] announced earlier today that we’re donating all profits from our limited release Marathon beer, Samuel Adams Boston 26.2 Brew, along with donations we receive from visitors to our Boston Brewery, to The Greg Hill Foundation,” the brewery said on its Facebook page Thursday. “The Foundation has already begun to meet the most immediate needs of victims, and 100% of the donations will go to support victims and their families.”

Jamaica Plain has played a strong role in the Boston Marathon bombings. JP icon Carlos Arredondo was one of the first people helping at the finish line, and firefighter James Plourde from the neighborhood was photographed carrying a bleeding girl to safety.
