Roy K. Millward, 89, Purple Heart Recipient

Roy K. Millward, 89, won a Purple Heart during his service with the Army in World War II. He worked at the VA Hospital in Jamaica Plain.

 

Roy K. Millward, 89, of Westborough, died Monday, May 14, at UMass/Memorial Healthcare- Memorial Hospital in Worcester. He was the husband of Rita R. (Finnegan) Millward. Born in Auburn, he was the son of the late William and Annie (Weblin) Millward and was educated in Auburn schools. He was an Army veteran of World War II and received the Purple Heart after being wounded in action. Millward was employed as an assistant physical therapist at the VA Hospitals in Jamaica Plain, West Roxbury and Worcester prior to his retirement. He was a communicant of St. Luke the Evangelist Church, a member of the D.A.V. and AARP. He was an avid sports fan, enjoying the Boston Bruins, Red Sox and Celtics. In addition to his wife, he leaves one niece, Cheryl Archembeault of Auburn. He was the brother of the late Richard S. Millward. Services were held the weekend of May 19.
