Police Identify Hyde Park Avenue Shooting Victim as Mariano Malave, 25

Police say Mariano Malave, 25, of Boston, was the victim of Friday's homicide at 132 Hyde Park Ave. in Forest Hills.

Mariano Malave, 25, of Boston is the man shot dead Friday evening in a Hyde Park Avenue home, police say.

While online commenters and news reports had previously identified the victim as being Malave, Boston Police waited until Tuesday morning to make the name public.

Malave was pronounced dead at the scene inside a three-family home at 132 Hyde Park Avenue on Friday night.

Malave was a student at ITT Tech, a cousin told the Boston Globe. Family and friends had thrown him a surprise birthday party two Sundays ago.

His death is the first homicide in Jamaica Plain in more than six months. Kenny "Black" Soto was stabbed to death outside the 7-Eleven in October 2011.

If you have information about the Hyde Park Avenue shooting, police ask you to call the Homicide Unit at 617-343-4470. Anonymous tips can be called in to 800-494-TIPS or by texting the word ‘TIP’ to CRIME (27463).

Am I missing something? Where did it say that this was drug-related? Funny how we jump to conclusions everytime another young man is murdered before his time. Mariano was a man with a huge heart and a prosperous future....for those of you who wish to judge without the facts. He will be greatly missed by all that were blessed to know him. He wasnt a ganster or a thug but a young man finally confident to strive for success.

Kindly shut the hell up. If you didn't know Mario, don't judge. Furthermore, it says nothing about his death being drug-related. Stop being stereotypical asses. It said he opened the door and was shot. That is all. Yes, other articles have said he "used" to smoke. But, he stopped--key words being used to--and was turning his life around. "Pot" or weed, or however you want to refer to it, it's nothing compared to actual harmful substances. Some people say they smoke to relax. Others react to it differently. No one is perfect, including you. So, if you don't know the story, go somewhere else with your nonsense. And stop badmouthing a dead man. We're still grieving and don't need to hear your uncalled for assumptions.

Although his death was drug related as we now know, that gives noone the right to bad mouth him and take his life into their own hands.Mariano was my best friend since i was 4 fucking years old and i am deeply in pain from his passing and if you have nothin positive to say regarding this matter, then yes kindly shut the fuck up and hop off his dick please cuz noone is in the mood for your bashing of an innocent black man..Fuck off thank you and have a nice day!
