Morning Wind Messes Up Commute, Buildings

Downed trees created gridlock during this morning’s commute.

Trees fell onto major thruways, and protective wrapping came off of buildings due to ferocious winds that swept through the area this morning.

The Jamaicaway near Perkins Street was very slow this morning due to a downed tree in the roadway, according to tweets.

Michelle Roberts (@MichelleWBZ) tweeted at about 6 a.m.: "Clean up crews are busy this morning! Tree down in Boston at Jamaicaway and Perkins St. Avoid that spot."

UniversalHub’s twitter account fed tweets about the snarls constantly during the morning hours:

"RT @ali_foley82: Took me an hour from the lights at Blakemore St. (TOPS Liquors) to the courthouse lot #jamaicaplain"

"Traffic a mess on Washington St. between Forest Hills and Green St. #jamaicaplain"

Reader Gretchen Van Ness sent in photos of wind damage at 225 Centre St. today. The JPNDC building’s protective wrapping was blown off. The building is under construction, and workers are fixing the damage.
