MassDOT Casey Overpass Report Now Online
The nearly year-old report says MassDOT found heavy rust on “stay-in-place” forms and the drainage system in poor condition.
The Jamaica Plain Gazette posted the 79-page safety report due to reader requests, according to a post on the newspaper’s website.
The report, dated Jan. 16, finds several aspects of the overpass are in poor condition including lighting, drainage and deck joints.
The Gazette reported Oct. 26 that the inspection found debris occasionally falls from the aging overpass to the ground.
The most recent example of that was in late August, when falling debris forced closure of one of the bridge's lanes, resulting in a traffic nightmare.
