Guess: How Many Republicans Are There in Jamaica Plain?

Super Tuesday comes to JP and Massachusetts on Tuesday, as former Gov. Mitt Romney is expected to win the Bay State's GOP presidential primary. But just how many Republicans are there in JP?

[Editor's note: The initial posting included Ward 20 precincts, which are in West Roxbury, not JP. I was working from the District 6 voting records and confused myself. That pretty much invalidates the poll as it was first published. I've removed that poll (starting at 6 a.m. Tuesday) and replaced it with a more accurate one. My apologies!]

It's no secret that Democrats outnumber Republicans in JP. But can you can guess how many registered Republicans live here?

I've put the poll at the top of the story so most readers will have to scroll way down to get the answer. After you've voted, scroll down and see how you did. I've also included a chart showing how many Republicans there are in each JP precinct.

Republicans and unenrolled voters can cast ballots in Tuesday's GOP presidential primary. Polls are open from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Okay, here's the chart:

Ward 10 Ward 11 Ward 19
Precinct 1 38
2 101
3 47
4 62 40
5 54
6 45 26 48
7 56 36 36
8 49 32
9 65 21 24
10 38
11
12 42
Total (ward) 166 232 462
Total (JP)

860

*Active and inactive voters, as of February 2012. This is JP as based on the City Council District 6 from the 2010 election. Blank cells indicate that number precinct is not in District 6 (or does not exist!). Most people would also say that Ward 11, Precinct 5 in Egleston is part of JP, though it is in City Council District 7. For the record, that precinct has 28 Republicans.

Hive Mind — I struggled and failed to find numbers for registered Democrats in JP. I'd be indebted to anyone who can find them, and I'll add that number in for further context. Would be good to know unenrolled voters, which likely outnumber Democrats and Republicans combined, as they do statewide.
