Essential daily information at a glance.

1. Weather: Mostly sunny. Cooler, with highs in the lower 70s. Which is still amazing for mid-March.

2. In scanning my news sources this morning, I was surprised to find out that Massachusetts has a "Stand Your Ground" type bill pending in the legislature. That's the type of law that in Florida may allow George Zimmerman, the man who killed Trayvon Martin, not to be charged with any crime. It's Senate Bill 661.

3. Today is the 144th birthday of the JP-based Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals. You can sign their birthday card at this link.

4. Interested in being a foster parent? Learn more Saturday, 1-4 p.m. at the Home for Little Wanderers.

5. Remember how Java Jo's used to host music? Fazenda Coffee Roasters, which is in the old Java Jo's space, has started a Sunday Music Series. This Sunday at 3 p.m. it features singer/songwriter Eva Walsh.
