Essential daily information at a glance.

1. Forecast: Cloudy. Scattered showers in the morning...then scattered showers with a chance of thunderstorms in the afternoon. Humid with highs in the upper 70s. Chance of rain 40 percent.

2. Change to Big Huntington Avenue Project: The proposal has changed for a residential building that would go up on the current Home for Little Wanderers campus. The size is the same, but the developer would add more affordably-priced units and cut down the number of parking spaces. For details, please see the Globe.

3. Celebrate Puerto Rico: The three-day Puerto Rican Festival begins at 6 p.m. this evening in Franklin Park with a Youth Night. The celebration continues Saturday and Sunday.

4. Shakespeare on the Common: This year's production is the blood-soaked history play "Coriolanus," so this one won't be good for a picnic with the kids. Free. 8 p.m. at Parkman Bandstand on the Common. Performances continue through Aug. 12.

5. If You're Big on the Pig: As a proud Southerner, I've always known barbecue is art. Chef Tiffani Faison from Sweet Cheeks, a new 'cue place in Fenway, will be demonstrating what she learned on a tour of Southern barbecue joints. The demo takes place at the Institute for Contemporary Art. Begins at 6:30 p.m. this evening. $10 for members and $15 for non-members.
