Essential daily information at a glance, including your chance to help pick the design of a permanent mosaic being installed at the JP Branch Library.

1. Forecast: Sunny. Highs in the mid-80s.

2. Choose Library Mosaic Design: It isn't every day you get to help choose what a permanent piece of neighborhood art will look like. But that time is now for the JP Branch Library's new community mosaic. Here's a link to the survey.

3. Pop-up Concert at Harvest: The August Noise JP concert series continues Saturday at 6 p.m. outside Harvest Co-op, as musicians bring a free outdoor concert to the streets.

4. Cuban Baseball Legends in JP: A team of baseball players from Cuba will be in JP on Saturday as part of the Friendship Games. They'll play pick-up games at Pinebank Field starting about 9:30 a.m. Around noon, a little birdie tells me, they'll head to a certain Cuban restaurant for lunch.

5. Your New Kitty: This weekend the MSPCA is waiving adoption fees for all adult cats (ages 1 and over).
