Footlight Club Performs ‘Wait Until Dark’ in Feb.

The local community theater group will perform the suspenseful thriller in February.

Jamaica Plain’s community theater troupe will perform a classic suspense-thriller this February.

The Footlight Club will put on six performances of “Wait Until Dark,” a who-dun-it written by Frederick Knott.

Knott’s play was adapted for the screen in 1967, in which Audrey Hepburn was nominated for an Academy Award for Best Actress in a Leading Role.

Here is a synopsis of the play from Goldstar Boston:

"Blind housewife Susy Hendrix finds she must outwit a trio of psychotic criminals who terrorize her in her New York apartment, believing that she possesses a heroin-filled doll they had smuggled into the country. To level the playing field and outwit the criminals, Suzy manages to kill the lights, resulting in a cat-and-mouse game that takes place in almost total darkness. This masterfully constructed thriller moves from one moment of suspense to another as it builds toward an electrifying, heart-stopping finale."

The Footlight Club will perform “Wait Until Dark” Feb. 1, Feb. 2, Feb. 8, Feb. 9, Feb. 15 and Feb. 16. The Footlight Club website has ticketing information. The Footlight Club theater is located at Eliot Hall, 7a Eliot St., Jamaica Plain.
