1. Today's forecast calls for sunny skies and highs in the upper 70s. Winds around 5 mph.

2.Tonight two of the JP Neighborhood Council committees meet. The Parks and Open Space Committee meets at 6:30 pm at JP Licks and the Housing and Development Committee meets at 7 pm at the Bowditch School (92 Green).

3. It's the summer solstice. Enjoy a walk through Olmsted Park with none other than the park's designer, 189-year-old Frederick Law Olmsted. Gerry Wright will be reprising his role as the landscape architect. Tickets are $10 through Brookline Adult Ed.

4. Want to celebrate the solstice on the Boston Harbor Islands? Today is Free Ferry Day, which means you can travel to either George's or Spectacle Island for free (An adult round-trip ticket is usuallyl $14). Ferries depart from the Long Wharf North Ferry Center every half hour between 9 a.m. and 6 p.m. Tickets are available on a first-come first-served basis.

5. If all that nature isn't to your taste, you can celebrate the first day of summer at the movies. Video Underground is hosting a "Drive-In Movie Night" to benefit August's JP Music Festival. 6-10 pm.
