Five Things to Know: The Tempest Begins at the Footlight Club
Essential daily information at a glance, including a community health fair in Jackson Square on Saturday and lots and lots of arts and history in Centre/South.
1. Community Health Fair: Get free screenings for diabetes, high blood pressure and other health problems. Plus Zumba, raffles and much more. 11 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday at the Martha Eliot Health Center, just up from the Jackson Square T.
2. Revolutionary Encampment: If you hear musket fire from the Loring-Greenough House on Saturday, don't be alarmed. It's a visit from War of Independence-era reenactors. 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday. For a flavor of what you'll see and hear, check out this JP Patch file video.
3. Lisa Redfern in Concert: Speaking of the Loring-Greenough House, Friday night it hosts singer-songwriter Lisa Redfern. 8 p.m. Friday, $15.
4. The Tempest: I love our neighborhood. Right across from where Redfern will be playing her mix of blues, folk, bluegrass and other roots music, The Tempest begins its run at the Footlight Club.
