2. WriteBoston: At Bella Luna Wednesday night, learn about WriteBoston and its mission to create a culture of writing in the schools and among all students. The evening will feature readings and a discussion with Michael Patrick MacDonald, author of All Souls and Easter Rising. Free pizza from Bella Luna and a cash bar. $30. Starts at 6 p.m. Wednesday.

3. Art Inspired by Literature Workshop: Artists, here's a heads-up about an interesting project coming Friday afternoon. As part of JP Reads, create art inspired by "The Night Circus," then show it to the author later that day when she visits JP. 2 p.m. Friday,  $30.

4. Syria: The Struggle for Justice and Freedom: The American Islamic Congress at 38 Newbury Street is hosting a lecture on the Syrian crisis from two Damascus activists from 6:30 to 8:30 p.m. Wednesday. Free.

5. Brunch Begins at Tres Gatos: Everyone's favorite restaurant/record shop/book store, Tres Gatos, will start serving brunch this weekend.
