Escape for a Night of Live Theater with Divine Stage Works
Divine Stage Works presents Crimes of the Heart at Capen Hall in Hope Central Church.
Each week Jamaica Plain Patch will feature one idea or suggestion to let you escape from the everyday monotony by visiting local hotspots or area events. Each Great Escape feature is meant to make your life a little easier, a bit more exciting or fun and maybe even more interesting by discovering new things to do right in your neighborhood.
When is the last time you spent the night at the theater?
The Divine Stage Works in Jamaica Plain, is currently putting on the show, Crimes of the Heart, a Southern comedy about three troubled sisters who grew up in a dysfunctional family.
From Divine Stage Works website, “It has been five years since Hurricane Camille swept through Hazlehurst, Mississippi, home of the troubled Magrath sisters. Meg fled town under a blanket of rumors; Lenny resides in their childhood home caring for Granddaddy, and Babe is now knee deep in scandal. The sisters must unite and put aside their differences, but it isn’t easy overcoming the emotional wake of so many past storms.”
Performances are currently running March 18, 19 and March 24-26 at Hope Central Church in Capen Hall, 85 Seaverns Ave in Jamaica Plain. The show starts at 8:00pm and tickets are $15 at the door.
Nearby options for dinner if you are looking for a bite to eat before you head to the show include JP Seafood Café, if you are a sushi fan and Bukhara Indian Bistro, for great Indian cuisine. There’s always JP Licks as well if you prefer a post show ice-cream nightcap.
