Jamaica Plain, Did You Feel an Earthquake?

Social media is lighting up with reports that residents in the Moss Hill and other sections of JP, plus Newton, felt their homes shake.

UPDATE: Federal authorities have downgraded the magnitude of the quake from 4.6 to 4.0.

~~~~~
Reports are pouring in of Jamaica Plain residents who felt their homes shake in what may have been an earthquake.
Here's some of what we're hearing on Twitter:
A JP resident emailed JP Patch to say: "I live between the Arboretum and the Monument on Centre and my house definitely shook for a few seconds. Weird!"
The federal agency that monitors earthquakes reports there was one of 4.6 magnitude at 7:12 p.m. near Hollis Center, Maine.
If you felt the tremor, the U.S. Geological Survey collects data via this online survey.
Yes, I did. I was sitting in front of my computer and it was unmistakable....the things on the desk rattled and there was like a buzzing noise, I don't know if it came from the computer or from the things in the house buzzing....amazing! This is the second one I've felt in Jamaica Plain. The other one was about 20 years ago -aftershocks of an earthquake that was centered I believe in Montreal, Canada....wow!
Sure did! At 7:13PM (if my computer's clock is correct). Just how I like them - shaken, not stirred.
I was at Blissful Monkey Yoga studio. It was the end of class so we were all laying on the floor in corpse pose. Could feeling the rolling rumbling for several seconds. No one said a word.
I was driving my daughter's car by Forest Hills Station, talking to her (in Amherst) on the phone. Her car started sort of rocking back and forth. I asked her if she had noticed that before and at that same moment she said that her desk started shaking to the point that a water bottle fell off of it! It was a cross-state earthquake share!
