If you were planning on driving around Boston this weekend, you may want to think twice. Maybe just stay put in JP.

The Tour de Force and the Jimmy Fund Walk are expected to bring several thousand extra people into the city, leading to street closures and parking restrictions in the Fenway/Kenmore, Back Bay and Beacon Hill neighborhoods.

Tour de Force
The Tour de Force, a Sept. 11 memorial bike ride, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 11 a.m. on Saturday. 

The route through Boston is as follows:

Cambridge Street to Tremont Street to Boylston Street to Charles Street to Beacon Street to Arlington Street to Tremont Street to Ruggles Street, then a reverse direction at Police Memorial at BPD HQ, Tremont Street to Melnea Cass Boulevard to Columbus Avenue, to Massachusetts Avenue to Commonwealth Avenue, to Brookline Avenue to Lansdowne Street to Ipswich Street to Van Ness Street to Yawkey Way to Brookline Avenue to Commonwealth Avenue outbound to the City of Newton.

The following street closures will take place.

• Cambridge Street, from Somerset Street to Court Street, to be closed on the west side, opposite City Hall, prior to the start of the event for the staging of bicycles.
• Tremont Street, from Court Street to School Street, to be closed on both sides for the start of the event.  Traffic coming up Court Street will be required to turn right onto the west side of Cambridge Street.
• The riders will make two stops.  The first stop will be at the 9/11 Memorial at the Boston Public Garden.  One lane of Arlington Street, between Newbury Street and Commonwealth Avenue, on the Public Garden side, will be closed for bicycle use only.  The other stop is at the Boston Police Memorial at Police Headquarters.  One lane of Ruggles Street, between the Southwest Corridor and Tremont Street, will be closed for bicycle use only.

Traffic delays should be expected at the start location, the two stop locations, and along the route as the ride progresses. 

In addition, the following temporary parking restrictions will be in place to accommodate the event:

• Cambridge Street, west side, opposite City Hall, from Somerset Street to Court Street
• Tremont Street, both sides, from Court Street to Beacon Street/School Street.
• Broad Street, south side (even side), from Central Street to State Street, and north side (odd side), from State Street to Water Street.

Jimmy Fund Walk
The annual Jimmy Fund Walk will take place this year on Sunday, Sept. 9 starting at 9 a.m. More than 12,000 people are expected to participate in two separate walks, the Jimmy Fund Walk and the Patient Walk. 

 The routes to be traveled are as follows:

Jimmy Fund Walk – Entering the City of Boston at Boston College, Commonwealth Avenue, right onto Chestnut Hill Avenue, left onto Beacon Street, through the Town of Brookline, continuing on Beacon Street, to Kenmore Square, right onto Commonwealth Avenue, right onto Hereford Street, left onto Boylston Street, ending at Copley Square.

 Patient’s Walk – Longwood Avenue, across Brookline Avenue and the Riverway, right to Kent Street, Beacon Street, following the Boston Marathon Course to Copley Square Park.

The following temporary parking restrictions will be in place to accommodate the event:

• Boylston Street, both sides, from Dartmouth Street to Clarendon Street
• Brookline Avenue, southeast side (Yawkey Center side), from Jimmy Fund Way heading back toward Francis Street for the fist eight metered parking spaces between Jimmy Fund Way and the first service driveway.
• Clarendon Street, both sides, from Boylston Street to Saint James Avenue
• Trinity Place, both sides, from Stuart Street to Saint James Avenue
