ITNGreaterBoston, a new service which matches volunteer drivers with senior citizens and the visually-impaired, is looking for Jamaica Plain volunteers who can make a difference in the lives of older adults. Community members with at least three years of driving experience, a clean record and an insured, registered and inspected car can volunteer. Drivers take individuals to doctors' appointments, to the grocery store, bank or pharmacy, to visit friends and family, to see a play or movie, or anywhere else they need to go. Volunteers only need to commit to about 2 hours per week and can select the time and route that best work for them. Drivers also earn ride credits that can be used for friends or family, or donated to supplement low-income riders' fares. In addition, each driver gets 2 free memberships yearly to use for themselves, friends or family.
