- Local every day in
As a result of a gift from the Jamaica Pond Poets (JPP), the Jamaica Plain Branch Library now owns a special collection of over two dozen books of poetry by local contemporary writers. Authors include Michael Weaver and Susan Donnelly, who have read at Chapter and Verse. The books are housed on the Library's mezzanine level and are available for check-out.
In a press release, Dorothy Derifield, a JPP member and director of Chapter and Verse, stated, “We wanted to make local, contemporary poetry books more accessible to local people,”
From October through June, Chapter and Verse takes place at the Loring-Greenough House at 12 South Street on the first or second Friday each month. This season's first reading will take place on Friday, October 7th. The event features authors Sandra Kohler, JP resident Jonathan Russel Clark, and frequent JP Patch contributor Jim LaFond-Lewis.
